My apologies that it took so long to get a response. Bard is occupied and Caber is otherwise disengaged. If you want to win at Age of Wonders, all you have to do is play the game! You don't need no cheat! You'll get beat, but then try again! Second try around, you will know... That final Halfling scenario, United Cities, was ABSOLUTE HELL the first time I played it! Second time around, I ripped through it using just my Leader and Hero in no time! You don't need no "beatrix" cheat to win the game! |

Yes, it's true, I am a very occupied dude.
Pierre, here's a direct link that will answer your question, not to mention it being the quintessential site for all your AoW needs. http://aow.heavengames.com/strategy/cheats.shtml

How the hell are we still linked to Age of Wonders?
This is almost as bizarre as that guy who came to tell us about Ellie Chidzey's new movie. |

I vaguely recall playing a few AoW multi-player games. I also remember playing a lot of games by email most of which were never completed.
If you built your leader right, he was basically indestructible. I think having first strike was key to this build. |

Well thanks for NOTHING! I mean, I vaguely remember someone on this forum named Kiber, or Caper or something like that...
I guess I was just another forgotten notch on your belt, Caber! But pride aside, you mentioned what I was getting at: if you build your Leader right! The first time through the campaign, I saved up my points to get more levels in Spell Casting... The second time through, I knew just to beef up on Attack and Defense. But that's what I was getting at for pierre: You will NEVER have as much fun playing this game as when you're desperately trying to hold off a seemingly impossible onslaught of Undead... Once you know the quirks and limitations of the AI, and you know how to beef up your Leader (and Hero), you can whip through all the scenarios of the campaign like a hot knife. |

First strike + lightning strike = un-fucking-stoppable. Although you don't always need to super beef att/def if you use stoneskin/enchanted weapon/other
beef up spells (although they can be dispelled if someone has that spell...)
Also, to pierre, while you should play the game however it's fun to you, I suggest you'll have more fun if you play it through without the cheats. PS-anyone up for a MP or PBEM sometime in the near future? I'd particularly like to have a go at the leaders off mode which I think is more fun. Best, Bysshe

I'd probably be up for a pbem game, provided AoW will run on my computer.

AoW works under Vista, but the sound doesn't. Instead of the "yarggh" of a human hit, I get "bzpt", instead of the "crunch"
of a wall getting smacked I get "bzpt".
AoW2 runs just as slow and jerky as it did with my last computer! How is that? Oh, and have you watched shows liked "Whacked Out Sports"? They use the AoW sounds for every "yarggh", "ooh", "crunch"... It's almost exclusively the AoW sounds! I mean, AoW doesn't have a sound for a car skidding. |

Of course. By now that should be a given, after all who am more manly than we. To paraphrase the real bard, we few, we last remaining few, we manly band of
LifeLine's brothers.

I know what you mean, but what I can't figure out is what the fuck "such a random forum like this" means. I mean we may be many things, manly
most of all, of course, but random ain't one of them. Seriously, what the hell is a random forum? :p
